Milk, Bread, Eggs and a House
SHOPPERS can add another item to their list when out for groceries – a new home – after supermarket giant Asda announced plans to take on estate agents.
So should you consider selling your home at Asda?
Well, certainly for the moment this is only an option at 10 of Asda's supermarkets in North East England, plans are to roll out nationwide once the small trial is over.
The business will be managed by a team of call-centre staff, estate agents, surveyors and conveyancers.
People looking to buy or sell a home will contact the company by email or telephone, with no walk-in centre to meet staff.
The chain will offer vendors free home information packs, which include a survey, search and land registry information and Asda said homesellers could save up to £2,000 compared to using high street estate agencies.
Asda is looking to cut the commission charged from the typical 2% to around 50% - this could offer massive savings to sellers.
