Why buy new?
When talking about new builds opinion is often divided, with some loving period features you only get with older houses, often along with mumbled comments of 'not built like they used to be' etc. - so why should you buy new?
Well for me, you can't beat a brand new, clean, untouched and unspoilt home. Like buying a new car and the feeling that gives you - you also have the option of building it to your spec - want a built in dishwasher, no problem sir! Surround sound in the bathroom? Done.
Buying new gives you many advantages;
The kitchen you always wanted
Buying new often gives you the option to pick your kitchen - from cabinet doors to built in appliances you get to stamp your mark. This could save you thousands of pounds compared to buying an older house and having to rip the kitchen out and start again.
Green flowery carpet and pink wallpaper
Buying new gives you a blank canvas - from walls to floor, everything is just waiting for your touch. Many new builds offer customers the option of having carpet or tiles fitted ready for moving in.
Chain free
If you are a first time buyer then buying new keeps you chain free - no hold ups because buyer x can't get a mortgage or that pesky seller keeps dragging things on.
Modern design
Often older houses are not suitable for those living a modern lifestyle. Many older properties for example couldnt offer an en-suite, some don't even have upstairs toilets. Of course these could be fitted - but at what expense? When buying new, the developer has often planned for today's living style and you should find that new build works for you and your family.
Cheap to run
New houses should be very economical to run. They are fitted with very efficient boilers, loft and wall insulation. Compared to older houses that possibly don't offer any form of insulation, running a new home should be easy on the purse strings.
